This field (field 3) was investigated as part of pre-development testing in advance of the Limerick Southern Ring-Road Project. In all, 23 trenches, each measuring 10m by 10m, were opened by mechanical excavator. Four of the trenches contained deposits of archaeological significance, including pits and a post-hole complex. These deposits were subsequently excavated by Tracy Collins (see No. 746, Excavations 2001).
