The site was to the north-west of Myler’s Tower, constructed in the 13th century, and adjacent to the line of the city wall. The back wall of the site appears to have been constructed on the line of the medieval wall, and consequently no test-trenches were opened at the extreme end of the site to prevent any possible disturbance of the monument. No archaeological remains were recovered in the rest of the site, which was characterised by heavy deposits of recently deposited humic soils for the purpose of laying out a garden.
