The first phase of monitoring at a residential development site was undertaken on 15 January 2001. The site is within the confines of a castle site and was previously subjected to a programme of testing (Excavations 1999, No. 425) during which no features were uncovered. However, eighteen sherds of medieval and post-medieval pottery were found. An additional six sherds of similar pottery were uncovered during this phase of monitoring.
It is expected that additional monitoring will be undertaken during 2002.
