Construction of the Kildare Bypass unearthed several charcoal scatters on the Curragh, Co. Kildare. Further investigation revealed eight circular pits, varying in diameter from 1.4m to 0.4m and in depth from 1m to 0.2m. The features were spread out over an 80m stretch of new road construction, with no obvious pattern. The pit fills were similar, consisting of burnt stone fragments, charcoal and silty clay.
