A monitoring licence was granted as a component of a Post-Impact Archaeological Assessment (PIAA). Archaeological conditions stipulated in the granting of planning permission to construct a factory were not strictly adhered to, and Dúchas and the local planning authority insisted that a PIAA report be undertaken. The development site is located in the townland of Clash East, on the north-eastern limits of Tralee town. The majority of the area of the development site had been stripped and covered with hard core. The excavation of the entrance, service trenches and foundations for the boundary wall were monitored. No archaeological stratigraphy, features or artefacts were recorded in the course of this limited monitoring.
