Test excavations were carried out as part of a pre-development assessment for the construction of a single house at Scart, Gortalea. The proposed development site is located to the west of a univallate ringfort, SMR 39:11, marked as ‘Claomachar Fort’. Three test-trenches were excavated on the footprint of the foundations of the house site, septic tank and percolation area and entrance. No archaeological stratigraphy or artefacts were recorded.
