This excavation of five isolated deposits/features noted during licensed monitoring of topsoil-stripping of a farm access road was associated with the realignment of the N22 between Bealagrellagh and Gortatlea, Co. Kerry.
The five deposits were in a small area and included the fill of a truncated post-hole of unknown date, the ashes from a modern coal fire and a deposit of fire-shattered stone, charcoal and black soil, filling a small shallow pit of unknown date.
Nothing else of significance was noted during the excavations.
