During the course of monitoring of topsoil-stripping relating to the N22 realignment between Bealagrellagh and Gortatlea, twenty possible archaeological features were noted in a small area near the foot of a low hill in the townland of Flemby.
The features consisted of circular and linear discolourations in the underlying clays. Excavation showed that none of the features were archaeological in nature; instead they proved to be the remains of land drains or features relating to the construction of the existing N22, which abutted the area to the north.
