The road realignment between Bealagrellagh and Gortatlea is part of the overall planned improvement of the N22 between Tralee and Killarney. Initial work began on the road in September 2000 and all groundworks were completed in September 2001.
All ground disturbance relating to the project was monitored. During the course of the monitoring a number of features requiring further investigation were uncovered and excavated, as listed below:
