Monitoring of ground disturbance work associated with the development of sixteen semi-detached holiday homes with associated roads and footpaths was undertaken during December 2000–January 2001 on the outskirts of Killarney town. Stratigraphy consisted of peaty topsoil overlying white clay natural. Three areas of archaeological significance were uncovered and individual excavation licences were obtained. Each area contained a fulacht fiadh, only one of which was previously recorded. Two additional fulachta fiadh are recorded for the development site, but their location was not identified.
