The development site is within the zone of archaeological potential of two sites, an enclosure and a fulacht fiadh, both of which have been levelled. It is proposed to preserve the site of the enclosure as a green area within the development and to incorporate the fulacht fiadh into the centre of a roundabout, where it will be maintained as a green area at the centre of the encircling road. The site is an irregular shape, divided into two areas; both archaeological sites are located in the north-eastern portion.

Seven test-trenches were excavated across the site. Deposits associated with the fulacht fiadh were revealed in two of the trenches. The spread of mound material truncated by plough-furrows in these trenches indicated that the levelled mound extended beyond the depiction of the site on the six-inch OS map (1894). A charcoal-speckled spread, which may have been derived from agricultural activity, was revealed in a third trench. In the remaining four trenches no features or finds of archaeological significance were revealed. In advance of development proceeding further archaeological consultation will be undertaken.
