Monitoring of a proposed development on the Dublin Road, Tuam, Co. Galway, took place in May 2001, as recommended by Dúchas following a previous testing programme by Anne Carey (Excavations 2000, No. 404). The brief involved the supervision of ground reduction work to the rear of the site (by approximately 0.5m) and the excavation of twelve 2.5m2 foundation pads to a depth of 1.2m. Excavation exposed a number of deposits, all of which contained modern material overlying a compact grey clay subsoil. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.
