Pre-development testing of the site of a proposed dwelling-house, garage, access road and septic tank at Seefin, Craughwell, Co. Galway, was carried out on 13 September 2001. The development is near Seefin Castle, located to the east.
Four trial trenches were excavated throughout the site. They measured c. 15–25m in length and were dug to an average depth of 0.4m.
The stratigraphy consisted of a silt layer overlying natural bedrock, below the topsoil. No finds or features of archaeological interest were noted during the excavations.
