The digging of eight site investigation pits in advance of a wind turbine plant across the top of Cashlaundrumlahan in the Slieve Aughty Mountains, c. 13km east of Gort, was monitored in September 2001. The pits revealed the extent and nature of the blanket bog on the mountain, but no archaeological features or artefacts were exposed. All further groundwork on site relating to the construction of the wind turbines is to be monitored.
