Topsoil-stripping of the area designated as Phase 1 of the Ballinla Quarry development was monitored for one week from 14 May 2001. Topsoil-stripping was carried out in three fields, and nothing of archaeological significance was discovered. The Ballinla Quarry is an ongoing development and monitoring of further topsoil-stripping for later developmental phases will be carried out at a later date.
