Monitoring of trenches was undertaken at Ardamullivan tower-house, which is presently being restored by DĂșchas. This project involved the monitoring of the mechanical excavation of a narrow trench to facilitate the laying of cables in the vicinity of the tower-house. Closer to the tower-house, two trenches were excavated under an existing stone wall and to within a distance of c. 10m from the north-east corner of the tower-house. The stratigraphy encountered throughout consisted of topsoil overlying an orange/brown clayey subsoil. In the trenches excavated closer to the tower-house, rock was located at a depth of c. 0.35m, indicating that the building was constructed on top of a stone ridge. No artefacts or features of archaeological significance were uncovered in the course of monitoring.
