Monitoring was carried out at Moneyatta Commons, Saggart, Co. Dublin, from 2 to 5 July 2001. The project involved the levelling of the sites for seven houses and the digging of foundation trenches. Twelve trenches were excavated for house 9, while ten trenches were excavated for each of houses 13–17 and 20.

Excavations in the seven sites revealed a uniform stratigraphy across the site. This consisted of a deposit of very compact mid-brown slightly clayey silt over a layer of dark brown clayey silt, which was above the natural dark grey clay. Other than the many stone drains revealed during the works, nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered. It was impossible to determine a date for most of the stone drains, but it is known that the previous owner of the land inserted the ceramic drainpipes in the last century.
