The zone of archaeological potential affected by this development is located to the north-east of the outer limit of the village of Lusk. It is contained within the field immediately adjacent to the Lusk–Skerries road, north of a residence. It also partially extends to the field directly east of the same residence. Seven trenches were opened by machine. Five (A, B, E–G) were located in the field immediately to the north of the residence, while the remainder (C, D) were situated in the field to the east of the residence. The stratigraphy of the site was consistent across the areas tested. Topsoil, a mid-brown friable silty clay (average depth 0.38m), overlay a yellow-grey stony subsoil. Three features associated with agricultural use were identified, all within Trench A. A single sherd of unstratified medieval pottery was recovered from the topsoil.
