Archaeological assessment of the site of a new mortuary at St James’s Hospital was undertaken in June 2001. Further monitoring of the development ensued. Several trenches were excavated by machine, using a grading bucket. No archaeological deposits pre-dating a blanket of 18th-century soil were present.
