The proposed construction of two two-bedroom apartments at the rear of 19 Railway Road, Dalkey, Co. Dublin, required pre-development testing. The site falls within the zone of archaeological potential for the medieval village of Dalkey. Testing was carried out on 29 and 30 November 2001 along the lines of the foundation trenches for the walls of the proposed development. Six machine-cut trenches were excavated. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted. All trenches were excavated to natural geology.
