Excavation took place prior to development of the Camac River Improvement Scheme. A group of three cut features were found during initial monitoring of this scheme in August 2001 (see Excavations 2001, No. 339). They were excavated in October 2001. The features were found in the area of the artificial viewing platform which was being created as a means of disposing of soil from the flood lakes.
Two of the three features, F4 and F6, were related and were 0.05m apart. They were roughly circular in shape, 0.5–0.6m in diameter and 0.26m in maximum depth. F4 contained a rich charcoal fill, F6 mid-brown clay. F2, an irregularly shaped feature, was 10m from F4 and F6. It was 2.56m in length, 1.3m in maximum width and contained charcoal and some ash. All three features may have formed a group.
There were no finds and no clues to the nature of the pits, which did not relate to any other archaeological site, feature or complex.
