Test-trenching took place to the rear of a supermarket within the historic town of Rosscarbery in advance of building and renovation work. Four trenches were excavated to the maximum depth of foundations (0.6m) or the level at which natural material was encountered. Stratigraphy consisted of 0.2–0.8m of modern surfacing and 19th/20th-century loose fill (stones, slate, gravel, concrete and some cobbles) over natural gritty, sandy clay which was light grey-brown in colour. No archaeological material was encountered.
