The site was initially identified during monitoring of construction work associated with the N8 Glanmire–Watergrasshill Road Scheme. A deposit of charcoal-rich humic material and burnt stone was identified which presented as the remains of a possible fulacht fiadh. The site was in low-lying marshy ground near a stream and within 10m of AR17 (see Excavations 2001, No. 216).
The site was fully investigated to reveal a spread of fulacht fiadh mound material. No additional features associated with this site type were revealed; however, substantial drainage works had been previously undertaken in the area.
