The site was identified during monitoring of topsoil-stripping of the N8 Glanmire–Watergrasshill Road Scheme. AR18 was situated in low-lying ground near a small stream. A spread of black, humic-rich material with inclusions of angular stones was revealed. Upon excavation the spread of black peat was found to be filling a natural hollow which was probably backfilled in the recent past for agricultural purposes. The site was of no archaeological significance.
