The construction of a residential housing development and associated works took place at Commogue, Kinsale, Co. Cork, in 2001. The planning conditions for the site stated that all site investigations and other groundworks be monitored. The residential development covers an area of 510m by 130m and there were no known archaeological monuments either within or in the vicinity of the site. The archaeological assessment included the monitoring of all topsoil removal in the area of the development. The excavation of an access road and a stormwater outfall pipe to the coast were also monitored. No features or finds of archaeological significance were uncovered during any phase of groundworks at the site.
