The site was originally identified during monitoring of topsoil-stripping on the N8 Glanmire– Watergrasshill Road Scheme (see Excavations 2001, No. 173). It consisted of a shallow trench that apparently enclosed a subrectangular area measuring c. 14.5m by c. 7m, though the eastern and south-eastern sides of the feature did not survive. The trench had a flat base and was generally 1.3–2m wide and 0.2–0.4m deep. A possible entrance feature, 2.8m wide, was noted on the northern side, and a number of other features, including pits and a possible hearth, were noted within the enclosed area. Though the site probably acted as an enclosure, it is unlikely to have been a roofed structure, and a post-medieval date is tentatively suggested on the basis of a small number of pottery sherds.
