Planning permission was granted for a dwelling-house inside the zone of archaeological potential for a boulder burial at Foildarrig, Castletownbere. The boulder burial was placed incorrectly on the Record of Monuments and Places map and the dwelling-house is actually outside its zone of potential. This error was pointed out to DĂșchas staff at the Archaeological Survey Office, University College, Cork.
Four test-trenches were excavated along the foundations of the proposed dwelling and one along the proposed driveway, c. 107m long. No finds or features of archaeological significance were noted.
