Monitoring of the dredging operation undertaken to facilitate the installation of a diffuser pipe as part of the Cork Main Drainage Scheme was carried out in a section of the River Lee close to Tivoli in April and May 2001. The dredged river deposits consisted mainly of grey and black silty clays overlying the river gravels at a depth of 9m. Finds were all from the 20th century. Nothing of an archaeological nature was recovered.
