The site is located to the west of the Augustinian foundation of Red Abbey and was excavated in advance of a housing development. Some areas of the site had been raised by the introduction of modern fill. A modern drain, on an east–west alignment, was exposed towards the west end of the site. No features or finds of archaeological origin were uncovered during test-trenching.
