The site lies on the North Island within the core area of the walled Anglo-Norman city of Cork. Test-trenching was carried out in June 2001 to establish whether a proposed raft foundation would intrude on archaeological strata. The upper 1.1m of stratigraphy was of modern origin and this was the proposed depth for the insertion of a raft foundation. The site was also monitored during the removal of the upper 1m of fill and no archaeological finds or features were uncovered.
