Test excavation was undertaken in advance of a private house development within the zone of archaeological interest surrounding the abbey in Ballygarvan. The above-ground abbey remains consist of the east gable, which on architectural grounds appears to be 15th–16th-century in date. Test-trenching in the proposed building footprint did not uncover any archaeological features or finds.
