Monitoring on the site of a proposed housing development overlooking the bay on the Cappagh Road, Kilrush, Co. Clare, was carried out on 18–19 April 2001.
Topsoil-stripping to an average depth of 0.2m exposed an orange brown silt and natural gravelly boulder clay under the sod and topsoil. Nothing of an archaeological nature was noted.
