Three trial-trenches were mechanically excavated, two of them to natural, within the area of the proposed development, which is adjacent to ecclesiastical remains. In Trench 3 a pit, 1.3m wide, was discovered in the western end, cutting natural subsoil. It was filled with sand and fractured animal bone; however, no datable material was recovered from the fill. Owing to the unknown date of the pit activity, monitoring of the groundworks associated with the percolation area of the proposed development was recommended.
