Monitoring of topsoil-stripping associated with the proposed construction of a dwelling-house, garage and septic tank took place on 12 July 2001 at Drumquin, Ennis, Co. Clare. The site was in a large field of undulating pasture with good views of the Shannon estuary to the south and south-west. To the east-north-east an enclosure (RMP 50:32) was visible. Neither of two enclosures located within the same field as the development was visible.
The stratigraphy consisted of topsoil on the surface, above orange/brown natural subsoil, natural sands and gravels and bedrock. The one artefact recovered was a fragment of modern glass.
