Monitoring of ground disturbance associated with the development of a quarry at Ballynacragga, Newmarket, commenced on 25 June 2001. The level of topsoil was greatest in the north, but the land was poor throughout, with limestone bedrock evident through the vegetation. The removal of topsoil revealed stones overlying bedrock.
Monitoring of topsoil-stripping revealed no features/artefacts of archaeological significance. Occasional 20th-century pottery and glass fragments were recovered from the topsoil.
