A monitoring brief was undertaken during the pipe-laying works for the Lough Gowna Sewerage and Sewer Disposal Scheme. The excavation of a continuous pipe trench (c. 0.8m wide) was monitored along the Cavan and Arvagh roads in the village. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted. In all cases road surface and bedding material directly sealed natural subsoil.
