An archaeological intertidal survey, underwater inspection and metal-detector survey of the seabed were undertaken in advance of a development scheme. No objects or features of archaeological interest were observed.
The intertidal survey extended c. 1km north of the present harbour and reached c. 25m inland of the cliff face. The underwater survey covered an area c. 300m long by 150m wide north of the existing harbour and extended south along a c. 15m-wide strip east of the harbour to the Grey Stones rock outcropping.
