An intertidal survey was carried out on the site of a proposed mixed-use development to the south-east of Wexford town centre. It is proposed to create a marina in part of the site directly to the north-west of the 19th-century Trinity Wharf. The walls of the wharf are of coursed, mortared local stone. They stand to a maximum height of 3.5m and are largely intact.
The assessment identified the wreck of a previously unrecorded wooden vessel in the intertidal zone in the northern part of the site. The ribs and sternpost or prow of a vessel c. 15m long by 4m wide (min.) protrude from the mudflats and are clearly visible at low water. No other unrecorded sites were noted. Further study of the wreck site was recommended.
