Test-trenching was requested as part of the planning process for two dwelling-houses at Coolnagree, Adamstown, Co. Wexford, because of their proximity to a moated site with castle, a medieval church site and burial-ground, and a large ringfort. The two houses were tested in tandem.
Seven trenches were excavated, positioned on the footprint of proposed foundations, well bores, percolation areas and driveways. The trenches had an average width of 1.5m and depth of 0.4m. The length of the trenches varied from 6m to 13m. No artefacts or stratigraphy of an archaeological nature were identified.
