Monitoring was conducted on 5 August 2000 after planning permission was received for the construction of a single dwelling. The area of development encompasses 2.5 acres (OD 31m), and the site, which is trapezoidal in plan, fronts onto a north-west/south-east-running road. There are three recognised archaeological sites within the vicinity of the development site: SMR 15:23, 15:24 and 15:25.

An area 15m by 13m was topsoil-stripped to a depth of 0.2–0.25m. Because of the gradient on which the house is to be built, the depth of the foundation trenches varied from 0.3m in the north-east to 12mm in the south-east. In the course of monitoring, the area was found to be totally devoid of artefacts or structures of an archaeological nature.
