The site was on the south-east-facing slope of a low hill. Topsoil-stripping revealed what appeared to be a structure, comprising seven post- and stake-holes in a rectilinear setting, four of which were aligned north-west/south-east, terminating in a possible double stake-hole; the other three were in a cluster to the south. A break in the south-east corner of the structure may indicate an entrance. Most of the post- and stake-holes were oval in plan, ranging in size from 0.09m long, 0.08m wide and 0.05m deep to a maximum of 0.5m long, 0.39m wide and 0.13m deep.
A shallow pit, 1.2m long, 0.76m wide and 0.07m deep, was situated c. 7m to the west of the structure and contained a single fill of light reddish-brown, sandy silt, overlain by a light greyish-brown, silty clay. Reddening of the sides of the feature suggests that it represented a hearth or fire-pit of some kind.
It was apparent that the site had been heavily truncated (probably through agricultural activity) prior to machine-stripping. The results of radiocarbon dating and other samples are pending.
