The site comprised a spread of charcoal-rich material overlying two hearth deposits, within an irregular oval cut. The sides of the feature had been heavily oxidised, suggesting multiple use, and the primary deposit within the cut was c. 90% charcoal in content. The final cut was 1.24m long (north-west/south-east), 0.9m wide, and 0.15m deep. It lay c. 240m west of the possible prehistoric cremation site (see Excavations 2000, No. 1043).
It was obvious that the site had been heavily truncated prior to machine-stripping, to the extent that the original dimensions of the overlying spread could not be ascertained.
