A complex of features and spreads was revealed within the 50m-wide road-take at Chainage 6910. Seven cut features were recorded within this complex, although only two of the features yielded burnt bone. The majority of the deposits forming the fills and spreads consisted of dark greyish-brown or black, charcoal-rich, silty clay with burnt stone inclusions. None of the features exhibited reddening of the sides associated with in situ burning, nor was any hearth or fire-pit positively identified. The two features containing burnt bone were oval in plan; one was 1.05m long (north-east/south-west), 0.65m wide and 0.15m deep; the other was 0.55m long (east–west), 0.32m wide and 0.07m deep. Post-excavation work is ongoing, and the results of the sampling of the possible cremation material are unknown at the time of writing.
