This site was trenched mechanically during the testing phase of the N25 Rathsillagh to Harristown Little Realignment Scheme (see Excavations 2000, No. 1068). Little or no evidence for foundation material relating to a limekiln (allegedly levelled by the landowner some twenty years previously) was found. A wider area was later opened up mechanically, which revealed a rectilinear field drain c. 1.5m deep and 1.2m wide, filled with large limestone blocks of up to 0.75m by 0.6m by 0.55m. This perhaps represents the clearance of the limekiln material after levelling. The landowner later placed the site outside of the line of the road. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted, and therefore no further work was undertaken.
