The site designated for development lies well outside and to the north of the defined zone of archaeological potential. It was proposed to demolish an existing private dwelling and sawmill and erect three blocks of private apartment dwellings enclosing car and bicycle parking areas. Twenty pit-trenches were opened along the footprint of the proposed apartment blocks.
There was no evidence for any archaeological stratigraphy or features in the trenches excavated. The ground profile throughout the site was generally uniform in section, with compact, natural gravel evident in all trenches at a depth of c. 1m from existing ground level. The upper layers of all of the trenches revealed a levelling of the ground with modern hardcore material, compacted over comprehensive infilling, along with modern deposits and sawdust residue deposited from the existing sawmill over several decades. There were no significant finds.
