Monitoring of ground reduction works associated with the development of the site was undertaken in compliance with a condition included in the grant of planning. The site lies on the northern side of Dominick Street, outside the postulated line of the town wall but within the zone of archaeological potential.
Monitoring commenced in December 2000, when some ground reductions were undertaken. However, following heavy rainfall and consequent flooding of the site, further groundworks were postponed until 2001. No features or finds of archaeological interest were recovered during this phase of monitoring.
