A machine was used to remove the ploughsoil following an initial metal-detector survey to expose a charcoal-filled trough. This feature had maximum dimensions of 1.6m by 0.8m, though it tapered in width towards the eastern end, and had an average depth of 0.2m. No other features were exposed on this site.
