An area measuring 30m by 20m was initially stripped by machine and subsequently cleaned by hand to establish the full extent of the fulacht spread. This feature measured c. 7m by 6m and had a maximum thickness of 0.48m. This fulacht spread had been greatly dispersed by modern ploughing, and small spreads of fulacht material could be identified throughout the site. This fulacht spread sealed an oval trough, which measured 3m by 1.8m, and four pits. Other features exposed within Site J include a modern drain, four pits, four spreads and areas of charcoal-stained clay, which may have been related to the actual fulacht spread.
