An assessment was carried out on the site of two vernacular buildings in advance of their demolition, as part of the roadworks on the N52 Nenagh Bypass Link Road. Five 1m-wide test-trenches were placed across portions of the buildings. The evidence uncovered showed that Building I was the main residential dwelling and Building II served as an outbuilding for animals. An associated yard surrounded the buildings on the western side. The excavation revealed that neither building pre-dated the 18th century, and both are indicated on the first edition OS map. The buildings remained in use until the middle of the 20th century. In combination with the excavation, a full photographic and drawing survey of the buildings was undertaken.
