An archaeological assessment was carried out pursuant to planning permission at the site of a proposed extension to the Brú Ború Heritage Centre. The extension, 22m by 15m, is to be built on the existing lawn area.
Four test-trenches were opened with the aid of a machine. No archaeological remains were uncovered. The stratigraphy in all of the trenches was relatively consistent, the only variation being the thickness of the topsoil, which had been imported to the site for landscaping works at the time of the construction of the heritage centre. The imported topsoil directly overlay the subsoils. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered at this site.
